Maine Day Trips & Tours

Maine Day Trip was founded by Norman Forgey and has provided private escorted tours and motor coach step-on guides since 2007. In 2022, Maine Day Trip was acquired by North American Traveler who operates a complete travel package planning program called Downeaster Travel Packages. Maine Day Trip provided all of the private tours for the Downeaster Travel Package Program. Under Norm's direction, Maine Day Trip has become one of the most trusted suppliers for touring along the Maine Coast. Steven Grasso will take over as the steward of Maine Day Trip to carry on the great product and service that Norm provided for so many years. Maine Day Trip will now be, Maine Day Trips & Tours.

Stephen McCarthy

Maine Guide / Driver Guide

Steve is a life-long resident of the Greater Portland area. Prior to retiring a bit early, he worked as an internal consultant for a multi-national grocery retailer.

Stephen enjoys introducing first time visitors to the beauty of the Southern Maine coast, and also to the rich history that abounds here.

When he isn't leading tours he can be found on his motorcycle somewhere in northern New England. You might also find him on a lake or pond fishing for brook trout.

John Pollock

John and Gloria go hand and hand! John and Gloria have been Maine guides for over 12 years. They have toured the entire Maine Coastline and are always open to new adventures.

They work wonderfully together or independently. They have guided schooners, buses, walking tours and even spend time at Victoria Mansion in Portland. Another passion for John and Gloria is biking and hiking. They are also prideful parents of 3 children and 6 grandchildren, which they say is their greatest passion. If you are on tour with either John or Gloria, you will find their passion for Maine.

Pam Goode

Pam is a true Mainer (aka Mainiac), having been born and raised in Greater Portland. After retiring from a career in Logistics, a friend asked her if she would be interested in becoming a tour

guide. She immediately said “Yes” and the rest is history. Pam loves where she lives and thoroughly enjoys introducing visitors to the beauty of Maine, especially the rocky coast. She looks forward to each tour and the chance to share her “backyard” and experiencing the thrill of seeing Maine anew through the eyes of our Maine Day Trip Tours guests. Pam lives in Westbrook with her husband, Manley, and their cat, Ozzy. In her free time, she likes to read, garden, visit local breweries, and, of course, travel!

Leigh Kirchner

Leigh retired from a career in Health Education and discovered Maine Day Trips as a wonderful part time gig. She loves traveling and meeting new people so being a tour guide is perfect.

Though not originally from Maine, Leigh's family often vacationed here, and after 40 years of raising her family in Maine, Leigh doesn't feel like she's "from away." "I love showing visitors my favorite places and seeing the beauty of Maine through their eyes." She also enjoys seeking out new destinations, as well as historical and fun facts about Maine.

Leigh lives in Yarmouth just north of Portland with her husband Phil. They both enjoy traveling and the outdoors so Maine is a great fit, although they both admit that spending time away from our long Maine winters looks better every year. Treasured times with family - 2 daughters and 3 grandchildren- are especially prized during retirement. Leigh is an avid reader, loves music (ask her about her women's barbershop chorus), enjoys gardening, and volunteers with many Yarmouth town organizations. She feels blessed and it's important to her to give back. "Thank you for letting me be part of your Maine experience."

Don Comeau

Don has provided tours for visitors to Maine for over 10 years. The State of Maine with its natural beauty "sells itself". As a long time tour guide he adds details, history and a number of

stories to make Maine a memorable experience. He often says being a tour guide is one of the best jobs someone could have! Don was born and brought up in Maine. He has a passion for photography, especially landscape photos along the rocky Maine coast and its many lighthouses. Some of Don's photos are featured on our website. His other interest are travel, food and music. Don lives in Old Orchard Beach along the Maine coast with his wife Claudia. They are true snowbirds as their winters are spent in Sarasota, Florida.

Norm Forgey

Maine Guide Emeritus

Norm Forgey was Maine Day Trips & Tours founder before selling his business in 2022. Norm still assists us with his knowledge and when we can pry him off the beach or out of his

garden, we try to get Norm to continue sharing his passion for Maine. Norm was retired from the IT sector in the Financial Services realm and somehow found his way to offering private tours of the Maine Coast. Hearing Norm's stories of how he educated and practiced touring visitors to Maine is great to hear and inspirational. One can always learn new tidbits of information to share with visitors.
